This restoration of the 1919 film featuring plates that survived thanks to the foresight of the Endurance's trip photographer, Frank Hurley, chronicles the failed attempt of polar explorer Ernest Shackleton and his crew to launch an expedition to cross Antarctica via the South Pole route. Before the crew could even reach the icy continent, the Endurance became stuck in ice flows and eventually crushed. Shackleton and some crew set out in an open boat across 800 miles of open sea to get help and four rescue attempts later, succeeded in bringing home his men. 88 minutes.
